Four years ago, I was able to visit Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Being the capital of Malaysia, it has more of the urban vibe than what I had expected. Clearly, it has the bustle and hustle of the city life but still remains loyal to the Malaysian culture (and a bit of British) as seen in their architecture, language and food. Here are a mix of the colorful and vibrant life in in Kuala Lumpur.
1. Tourist Centre
It is not only an office, it also is a tourist attraction due to the mini-park they setup in front of it. There are also a mini-museum inside where you can see interesting details about Malaysia. Also, you can get free maps here. From here you can see the twin tower and the Menara KL tower.

2. Petronas Twin Towers
KL trip would not be complete without a peek to the Petronas twin towers. The towers were built exactly alike with the Suria KLCC mall at its foot while the rest of the floors above serving as offices. It is dazzling at night and you can in fact get inside certain floors in the building but there are certain schedules. You can get more information

3. Berjaya Times Square
One of the largest mall in Malaysia. It is so big it actually houses an amusement park. This is besides the more than a thousand retails stores found inside.

4. Merdaka Square
One of the largest parks I have seen, the Merdaka Square is in front of the Sultan Abdul Samad Building (a building built by the British)
5. Chinatown (Petaling)
A place where you can buy lots of souvenir items and good food. Nearby Petaling street is the Central Market. If you're tired of the malls, here is a place to get less expensive items.
6. Katsuri Walk
Another destination of souvenir shopping would be Katsuri Walk where you can get a dose of authentic Malaysian food. It is just alongside Central Market and you get more choices of items there too.
7. Temples
Doing away with a tour package gives you a chance to wander in the streets. You never know what you stumble into. Here are three temples we happen to pass by as we headed to our target destinations. A Hindu temple with elaborate designs on its facade. From Googling I found out it is Sri Mahamariamman Temple. The second is the God of War temple Guan Di, which I only found out after the trip. And finally the Masjid Jamek, a mosque with an enormous grounds.

Kuala Lumpur is a vast city. Take your time to walk around and taste the food. Why not try a Nasi Lemak.
